Not long after Battletech was introduced in table-top form, it arrived in digital form as well. > From 1989, we have MECHWARRIOR [ LINK], for MS-DOS, Sharp X68000, and PC-98. This was the first First-Person Battlemech simulator. It was actually a fun game way back when. Especially once I figured out that I could actually AIM at the HEAD. > Mechwarrior 2 [ LINK] came out in 1996 on DOS, Windows, Mac OS, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. This game destroyed my already lame social life. I actually bought a computer just to play this game. > Since then we have seen Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries (1996), Mechwarrior 3 (1999), Mechwarrior 4 (2000), and Mechwarrior 5 (2021). > The MechCommander (1998) series provided real-time strategy play in the Battletech universe. > Of course there were the Crescent Hawk games; The Crecsent Hawk's Inception (1988) for the Amiga, Apple II, Atari ST, Commodore 64, and MS-DOS and The Crescent Hawk's Revenge (1990) for MS-DOS. > There were also various Battletech and Mechwarrior games for Sega and Nintendo 8- and 16-bit console systems > Now, of course, we have BATTLETECH by Hairbrained Schemes. There are, however some alternatives out there. RogueMek [ LINK], is an on-line interpretation of Battletech that uses ASCII symbols (thus the " ROGUE" in "RogueMek")
