Not long after Battletech was introduced in table-top form, it arrived in digital form as well. From 1989, we have MECHWARRIOR [ LINK], the first First Person Battlemech simulator. It was actually a fun game way back when. Especially once I figured out that I could actually AIM at the HEAD. Mechwarrior 2 [ LINK] came out in 1996 and destroyed my already lame social life. I actually bought a computer just to play this game. Since then we have seen Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries, Mechwarrior 3, Mechwarrior 4, and Mechwarrior 4. The MechCommander series provided real-time strategy play in the Battletech universe. Of course there were the Crescent Hawk games. There were also various Battletech and Mechwarrior games for Sega and Nintendo 8- and 16-bit console systems Now, of course, we have BATTLETECH by Hairbrained Schemes. There are, however some alternatives out there. RogueMek [ LINK], is an on-line interpretation of Battletech that uses ASCII symbols (thus the " ROGUE" in "RogueMek") MegaMek [ LINK] is an excellent port of the tabletop game to the computer. It's as close to the pen-and-paper system as Software is going to get, and it's really fun. It's really nice to have the copmuter do all the table-chasing.
