These dice keep track of 'Mech movement. (Click images to follow link) So, you use WHITE when your 'Mech walks, BLACK when it runs, and RED when it jumps. You turn the die to the number of hexes traversed (in the cartouche at the top) and set it next to the 'mech. The values show the movement modifiers for combat. On the right of the die there are two numbers the top one is the modifier to attack, the bottom one is the modifier against incoming attacks. As you can see, you really want to keep moving as much as possible in Battletech.

are those standard dice that came with the game or are those after market fan dice? Cool regardless, but still curious.

These are aftermarket. The game normally comes with a pair of normal d6's (if you by the boxed set). I am thinking about getting a couple of sets of these cool movement dice though. They come from a gaming tip in the Battlemech Manual, that describes a method for tracking what 'Mech has moved how far, and by what method (Walk/Run or Jump). When I play, we use regular old dice to do pretty much the same thing. We just set the die to the "To-Hit" modifier. In addition, every player gets 12 extra dice. We use them to track our to hit numbers. So a basic Mechwarrior starts with 4 tracking dice for his gunner skill of 4. ❏❏ ❏❏ He walked, so add a die. ❏❏ ❏❏ ❏The target is at medium range for the weapon, so add 2 more dice ❏❏ ❏❏ ❏ ❏❏The target moved 4 hexes, so add 1 more die. ❏❏ ❏❏ ❏❏ ❏ ❏That's a total of 8 dice, so the attacker needs to roll an 8 or higher on 2d6 to hit the target. Cheap, easy and it speeds up game play.
